Wiatowski Group Inc. (OpenTier)

In 2007, we founded Silo Wireless Inc. to bring essential rural broadband to homes and businesses across the communities we served.

Silo was acquired by Xplornet Communications in late 2019. Andreas Wiatowski helped lead the six-month transition to Xplore before becoming its Vice President of Business Development in August 2020. In that role, he helped bring several fibre and wireless companies into the business and participated in successful funding applications to programs including SWIFT, ASHIP and UBF.

In 2024, OpenTier committed to connecting three underserved rural communities. Our investment has enabled us to pass approximately 380 homes, with a take-up rate of about 70%.

In 2025, we launched a business-focused wireless service using the Tarana G1 platform, bringing line-of-sight, near-line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight connectivity to Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. In August 2026, we expanded the service to Brantford and Brant County.
